Best Indian Non-Vegetarian Delicacies

April 1st, 2008 | by technodirty |

Mughals, Persians, and Afghanis brought non-vegetarian food to Indian sub-continent especially the tandoori recipes and some of the fusion created with Indian spices has given us Indians the “best non-vegetarian recipes of the world”. Chicken Tikka Masala is an inspired famous British recipe created and popularized by Indians, by transforming the spicy curry into tomato soup with some mild spices and roasted (tandoori) chicken tikka kebabs.

I would share some of the best non-vegetarian delights I have been able to taste.

I would start with my native place (Delhi), none other then Karims tops the chart for me.

Karims - Jama Masjid

The best in main course starts with Lehmee Biryani Bahishti a special mutton biryani, Roghan Josh, Khamiri Roti. Special Starters like “Shahjahani Kabab” special minced mutton stuffed with dry fruits & deep-fried, also the special “Nihari” and Akbari Murgh Masala are out of this world. Any one of you coming to Delhi should visit them, near Jama Masjid, old Delhi.

Another delicacy of north India would be “Tunde ke kebab”. An awadhi delicacy and a 100-year-old shop offering divine “Shami Kebabs”.

Tunde Ke Kabab - Lucknow

Moving to west and towards another specialty from Goa, Fried mackerel and goan fried prawns are the best one can have in Goa. I tried them in “Mickeys” a famous restaurant near Colva Beach, south Goa. They serve some of the best mouth-watering seafood, like fried pomfret, King Fish, Jumbo Lobsters etc.

The meal for two would not cost more then Rs 450.

Mickeys - Colva, Goa

Moving towards south and my final best would be “Hyderabadi Biryani” a blend of Mughlai and golconda flavors, it is said it originated when Mughals conquered the fort of golconda.

Hyderabadi Biryani

The hyderbadi biryani served in so-called “Family Pack” which would be sufficient for a family.

The specialty about this dish is its aroma and tenderness of the meat. All of these make this dish one of the favorite

This concludes the list for favorite non-vegetarian delicacies, I know there are many in India, but I have to go and taste them to include here.
